When people in a small seaside town in 1920s England begin to receive wicked, anonymous letters full of hilarious profanities, rowdy Irish migrant Rose is charged with the crime. Suspecting that something is not quite right, the town’s women begin to investigate the crime themselves. They soon discover that Rose may not be the culprit after all. Starring Olivia Colman as conservative spinster Edith and Jessie Buckley as the wild Irish Rose, the film also features a familiar and seasoned cast of English character actors (including Gemma Jones, Timothy Spall and Eileen Atkins) and the talented up-and-comers Anjana Vasan and Malachi Kirby.
“Wicked Little Letters is for people who like British comedy, but also for people who think British comedies are too refined for their taste. This one isn’t!” — Mike LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle
“The movie is full of goofy side characters and one-liners, yet elevated occasionally to genuine complexity by Colman and Buckley, who are consistently the best thing about any movie they’re in.” — Alissa Wilkinson, The New York Times
