“THIS IS NOT A MOVIE is a perfect antidote to the fake news of Fake News. Robert Fisk, a fearless, tireless, and — at 74 — basically ageless war correspondent has been covering frontline battle zones for the British newspaper The Independent for over forty years.

Inspired to become a combat journalist after seeing Hitchcock’s Foreign Correspondent as a child, Fisk witnessed the immediate aftermath of the massacres in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Lebanon — atrocities that compelled the reporter to speak the truth about human rights abuses across the Middle East. Fisk’s reporting has put his life in danger in Egypt and Syria, where he was the first to report on Bashar al-Assad’s use of toxic gas to kill civilians. Yung Chang, the Canadian filmmaker best known for Up the Yangtze (2007), finds in Fisk a compelling, articulate and bold reporter, who wonders aloud whether what he does really makes any difference. We would like to think it does.” — Laurence Kardish, co-artistic director, FilmColumbia

“After a lifetime reporting on conflict, Fisk reflects on the capacity of human beings to cause chaos on such a scale.” — Cath Clarke, Guardian
“A laudatory, engaging profile.” — Simon Houpt, Globe and Mail
