Straight from Telluride and New York comes Sr. ostensibly about Robert Downey, Sr., the anarchic indie director from the 60’s who made the classic Putney Swope, and ostensibly directed by indie filmmaker Chris Smith who despite Sr.’s Parkinson, surrendered the filmmaking to him, after which Sr.’s son Robert Downey Jr., jumped in to shape this memorial to his father. Sr. is about the bond between parent and child, addiction (Sr. got Jr. hooked on cocaine), Hollywood, and mortality.
