HOLLYWOOD SUMMER NIGHTS
Experience the free-wheeling hilarity and heart-pumping soundtrack all over again at the movies! In a series of slowly intertwining scenes and low-life characters that are often funny, bizarre and operatically foul-mouthed, Director Quentin Tarantino continued to define his mashup cinematic aesthetic with this breakout hit. A master mixologist of sound and picture, Tarantino says he chose the soundtrack’s now-famous surf music because “it just seems like rock ‘n’ roll Ennio Morricone,” who scored countless spaghetti Westerns. Pulp Fiction also resurrected John Travolta’s career and created the dance move (and Halloween costume) of the decade through Tarantino’s on-screen muse Uma Thurman. Nominated for seven Academy Awards, the film won the director his first Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
“Rarely have I left a movie theatre more thrilled or invigorated as I did after leaving Pulp Fiction.” — Marjorie Baumgarten, The Austin Chronicle
“There’s a special kick that comes from watching something this thrillingly alive.” — Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
