Winner of four prizes at the Berlin Film Festival, this fleet and surprisingly endearing modern take on Virginia Woolf’s classic Orlando, imagines the trans filmmaker, Paul B. Preciado, “auditioning” about two dozen non-binary and trans people for roles in an adaptation of the novel in which a nobleman becomes a woman and lives for another three hundred years. Inclusive, slightly delirious, and yet serious, this reading of gender and its possibilities is irresistible. Also played the Toronto and New York festivals.
