Inspired by true events, Nowhere Special is the understated story of John (James Norton), a window cleaner and dying single father in Northern Ireland forced to make future family plans for his toddler son (Daniel Lamont). After John’s wife abandoned them, father and son have enjoyed a life of simple rituals, complete dedication and innocent love. When John is given only a few months to live, he is determined to shield the boy from the terrible reality to come. The naturalistic performances by Norton and his young co-star give this thoughtful tear-jerker, directed by Uberto Pasolini (The Full Monty), a powerful emotional punch in the final act. You just want to reach out and hug them both.

“Uberto Pasolini delivers a subtle and caring statement on navigating grief through terrific leads James Norton and young newcomer Daniel Lamont.” — Tomris Laffly, Variety
“For a film about loneliness and death, it’s tender, intelligent and life-affirming without ever being maudlin and mawkish. A rare and distinguished film indeed.” — Rex Reed, The Observer
