“Agnes Varda, Jean-Luc Godard, and Francois Truffaut, among many others, began their spectacular careers by making short films. It’s a tradition in France that continues and the Crandell is pleased to present a selection of seven new short films from a new generation of Gallic filmmakers that have been nominated for Oscars, won Cesars (the French equivalent of the Oscars), and have shown at major film festivals the world over. The 135 minute program celebrates life in all its comic and serious manifestations, and is best experienced with a glass of Burgundy, a slice of brie and a crusty baguette.” – Laurence Kardish, FilmColumbia co-artistic director and former senior film curator at MoMA
