Steven Spielberg spared no expense for his dinosaur thriller that pitted the ravenous reptiles against his human characters in a death match for the DNA age. The film’s groundbreaking use of realistic visual and special effects ushered in a new era in movie making and also inspired a generation of dinosaur enthusiasts and paleontologists. Richard Attenborough is masterfully cast as the seemingly well-meaning John Hammond, whose ambitious project of cloning and gene-splicing dinosaurs back from extinction threatens to destroy even his own grandchildren. But Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum elevate this funny, scary, fast-moving gem to another level entirely.
