Don’t Worry Darling

A midcentury housewife, played by an always astonishing Florence Pugh, lives with her husband in a utopian experimental community when worry sets in: Is there something sinister beneath the gloss? Director Olivia Wilde’s psychological thriller has been a topic du jour since it was first announced in 2019. An early clip of Pugh and co-star Harry Styles in a particularly steamy scene broke the Internet this summer. Don’t let that distract you from the bravura acting that Pugh and others (Chris Pine! Nick Kroll!) deliver, not to mention the depiction of female hunger that Wilde says was her aim all along.

“Ignore the group think. Wilde (who dazzles in a supporting role) is a misunderstood genius and her sly erotic thriller is one of the best films of the year.” — Charlotte O'Sullivan, The London Evening Standard
