This martial arts classic must be seen to be believed. Directed by Ang Lee and written by James Schamus, it’s famous for its spectacular fight scenes choreographed by Yuen Woo Ping (who did the same for The Matrix). Crouching Tiger played at the second FilmColumbia festival, courtesy of Schamus. The film was a huge hit locally, as it was everywhere, helping to put our festival on the map. Starring the sensational Michelle Yeoh, Crouching Tiger won four Oscars, including Best Foreign Language Film.
