SUMMER’S END
CINEMA CELEBRATION
Annie follows the sing-along exploits of a spunky young orphan and her stray dog Sandy as she tries to outsmart the tyrannical Miss Hannigan and is taken in by the rich and eccentric Daddy Warbucks. This classic, John Huston-directed film version of the Tony Award-winning musical hits all the right notes with a cast that includes Carol Burnett as Hannigan, Albert Finney as Warbucks, Tim Curry, Bernadette Peters and Anne Reinking. Aileen Quinn, who was 9 years old during filming, won the title role up against 8,000 other child actresses.
“Aileen Quinn makes a perfect Annie, recalling Shirley Temple with her room-lighting smile and perky manner.” — Bob Thomas, The Associated Press
