In Adam, a gender farce produced by James Schamus, the eponymous straight Lake Tahoe high schooler spends his summer vacation visiting his hip older sister who is part of Brooklyn’s LGBTQ community. Thrown into the brave new world of gender fluidity, he falls for one of his sister’s lesbian pals who interprets his delicate features to mean that he’s a she—or a they. In love, he goes along with it, masquerading as trans, with affectionately comical consequences.
