The most recent epic from master Turkish director, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, is, as the New York Film Festival describes, “a work of elegant, novelistic filmmaking, rigorously unpacking questions of belief versus action, the tangible versus the enigmatic, and who we wish to be versus how we live”. Samet, an art teacher in an Anatolian grade school, is accused of inappropriate behavior by a female student. Merve Dizdar, who won the Best Actress Award at Cannes, memorably plays Samet’s colleague, Nuray.
