Daniel (Morgan Freeman) is brought together with Allison (Florence Pugh), the once-thriving young woman engaged to his son who was involved in a crash that took his daughter’s life. The tragic accident has left Allison, who suffered injuries, addicted to opioids. As grief-stricken Daniel navigates raising his teenage granddaughter and Allison seeks redemption, they discover that friendship, forgiveness, and hope can be found in unlikely places. Director Zach Braff says he based his very personal film on emotions he experienced after losing his sister, father and best friend within a two-year period.

“…Morgan Freeman and Florence Pugh are so damn good.” — Tim Cogshell, NPR Los Angeles
“The intimate story is darkly funny and rich, anchored by Pugh’s unsparing and deeply satisfying performance. Out of darkness, Braff finds hope and the potential for connection among unlikely (yet deeply likable) characters.” — Thelma Adams, AARP Movies for Grownups
