This semi-biographical debut film by Elegance Bratton tells the story of a young Black man, played by Tony and Emmy-nominated Jeremy Pope, who is homeless in his late teens. Ending up in the Marines, he tries to prove himself and earn his mother’s respect, only to be victimized by a sadistic sergeant while dealing with his attraction to a superior officer. Played the Toronto International Film Festival and was chosen for the closing night of the New York Film Festival.
