RESCHEDULED FILMCOLUMBIA25 SELECTION

After the worldwide critical success of The Worst Person in the World (2021) writer/director Joachim Trier and actress Renate Reinsve reunite for another intense family drama. Nora (Reinsve), a stage actress, refuses a role in a very personal film her long-absent father (Stellan Skarsgård), a once-renowned filmmaker, wants to make about her late mother. He gives the role to a young American actress (Elle Fanning) instead and inserts her into his family’s already complicated dynamics. Sentimental Value won the Grand Prix at Cannes and is Norway’s entry for Best International Film at the 2026 Academy Awards.

“With strong performances from its entire cast, Sentimental Value successfully synthesizes metaphor and nuanced character drama to convey the way suffering ripples outward.” — Brianna Zigler, The A.V. Club
“It’s a movie that sneaks up on you like great fiction, blending theme and character in a way that allows it to live in your mind after you see it, rolling around what it means to both the people in it and your own life.” — Brian Tallerico, RogerEbert.com
