Writer and director Marisa Fox’s late mother, who survived the Nazis, always told her journalist daughter that she was a freedom fighter, not a victim. It turns out she was also a double agent, a femme fatale, and part of a silent sisterhood of Jewish girls who were sent to a labor camp during the Holocaust. In uncovering her mother’s past Fox finds an extraordinary group of women who endured unspeakable things. Her mother was right: this is a heroic tale.
