Through letters, interviews, and rare archival material, director Tom Volf lets the opera diva speak in her own words as we follow her from birth in 1923 as Ana María Cecilia Sofía Kalogeropoulos in New York, until her death as Maria Callas, in Paris, in September, 1977. The film treats the painful events of her life, especially the Onassis-Jackie Kennedy affair, whose marriage broke her heart, with elegance and care.
