Before her death in 2021, literary icon Joan Didion reflected on her remarkable career and personal struggles in this intimate documentary directed by her nephew, Griffin Dunne. An actor, producer, and director since the late 1970s, Dunne will join us for a Q&A after the screening. Star of cult classics An American Werewolf in London and Martin Scorcese’s After Hours, his directing credits include The Good Wife television series and the feature films Practical Magic, starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, and Addicted to Love, starring Meg Ryan.

Dunne will also be signing copies of his bestselling family memoir, The Friday Afternoon Club, released last month. Praised by critics and industry insiders alike, Booklist called the memoir “captivating…beyond entertaining, honest in confronting heartbreaks and jealousies, often genuinely funny….” Kirkus’ starred review called it “a poignant love letter and evidence that through it all, genuine love is the backbone that keeps a family strong.”  The book will be for sale courtesy of The Chatham Bookstore.

This special event is $15 for the general public and $12 for members.
