Starring Adam Driver and Marian Cottiliard, Annette is a musical romance directed by Leos Carax, with screenplay and music by Ron and Russell Mael, the brothers of music duo Sparks, (the subject of a new documentary by Edgar Wright, also playing at Crandell Theatre this month.) The story centers on a stand-up comedian (Driver) and globally acclaimed opera singer (Cottiliard) who marry and have a daughter after a swift courtship. The film premiered at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, and won Leos Carax the Best Director award.
