Oscar is a garrulous middle-aged poet in Medellín who still lives with his mother and often borrows money from his embarrassed teenage daughter. A shambolic innocent, he continues to hope his poet friends will help him become better known for his work. When he discovers a young writer to mentor, his life goes from bad to catastrophic. Simon Mesa Soto’s vivacious journal of Oscar’s missteps, at once hilarious and sad, is a crowd pleaser that won several awards at Cannes.
